My Educational Background
Parent, Student, Teacher
Before becoming a parent, I was an elementary school teacher and presently work as a substitute teacher. While raising our family in Park City, I volunteered in our local school district by running science fairs and helping teach children to read. In 2023, I received my Master of History at Utah State University. I am a parent, student, and teacher. That real-world experience has prepared me to serve District 6 effectively.
My Commitment to You
I will be at every school by year 1.
Being in the schools with parents, teachers, and administrators is the best way to understand what our schools need from the State School Board. I commit to spending meaningful time at each State Board governed, Region 6 school before my first year is out.
I Pledge To:
Focus on children,
not political parties
Education is bigger than partisan politics. Region 6 has a wide variety of viewpoints. As an unaffiliated candidate, I aim to bring the best of our unique district to the State School Board. What we do at the State School Board needs to be focused on evidence-based, sound solutions to help Utah’s children grow to be well-educated, well-adjusted, productive citizens.
Support positive
student engagement
Across Region 6, attendance is down an average of 10%. Cell phones in school are a distraction, and schools are navigating how to keep children connected with their parents while staying focused in class. In addition, more and more educators are grappling with serious behavioral problems in class. Children and educators all need support to ensure positive, effective learning environments. Attendance, cell phones, behavioral issues – each directly influences educational achievement. I am committed to working tirelessly with local districts to find solutions that work.
Fight against unfunded legislative mandates
Our Utah legislature passes over 100 education laws each year, imposing many demands on our schools. Too many of those demands come without funding. When a bill passes without adequate funding, I will fight for our districts and schools to make it right. No more unfunded mandates!
As a parent and a former classroom teacher, I will take the time and make the effort to be in touch with the many different voices of this district; my votes will reflect those voices. I am running to make a difference, not a statement.
I’m running because I believe that partisanship has begun to threaten our shared belief in public education. We cannot afford to lose that shared belief and purpose. In my opinion, we must move politics to the side to make quality education and quality results Number One.
I have known Diane for many years. I have seen her strong leadership and service efforts in our community time and time again. I support her run as a state school board knowing that she will represent our area with thoughtfulness and a listening ear. She is not afraid to adopt new ideas, but stays strong when it comes to looking out for those who need a voice.

I have known Diane personally for 13 years and have also had the chance to work with her professionally in my role as an Executive in Law Enforcement and am well acquainted with her work ethic and character. Diane excels at developing and maintaining supportive working relationships with law enforcement, which is a critical component of keeping students safe while at school.
Beyond her ability to collaborate with law enforcement, Diane has consistently demonstrated her dedication to education and the well-being of students. She has an understanding of the challenges that our schools face and is passionate about finding innovative solutions to improve educational outcomes. She will advocate for ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.
I believe Diane will bring a fresh perspective to the Board and will work diligently with local leaders and parents to stay informed on what needs to occur at the State level to ensure the success of our students and communities. Her vision, coupled with her experience and dedication, makes her an ideal candidate for the Utah Board of Education.

Diane Livingston stands for integrity and kindness. As a former teacher of her son, she was an intricate part of the school supporting both the teachers and the students. She always has the students best interest in mind and is not afraid to do all that she can to meet their needs. I fully endorse Diane as the best school board candidate.
